From the Board President
|
On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to inform the community of the recent change at the Southeast Environmental Task Force. After 2 years of service to the organization, Alan Mammoser has resigned from the position of Executive Director. In his time here, Alan has helped move the Task Force forward by:
- Procuring funding for and hiring a bi-linqual community educator;
- Identifying connecting open lands that stretched from the Calumet region through Southern Cook County;
- Making strides in completion of the Burnham Greenway;
- Bringing together interested parties to work on an alternative fuel station; and
- Working to preserve open spaces identified in our Calumet Vision Plan.
Alan will continue to work with the Task Force through his ongoing efforts with the IPCB hearings regarding disinfection of discharged MWRD waters in to the waterways. We wish Alan all the best in his future endeavors and we thank him for his service to the community.
As you can imagine, we are both anxious and excited about the possibilities that this changing of the guard will bring. Over the next few months, we will be conducting a new Executive Director search. In the meantime, we are working hard to maintain our existing programs.

I strive to foster a love for the natural world through knowledge. My first objective is to help people understand the natural environment around them. This gets people engaged in their community while preparing young environmentalists for the future.
